Found in Ecuador in elfin forests and along roadbanks at elevations of 1000 to 1800 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial or epiphyte with suberect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 1 or 2, closely apressed, tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, spreading, often suffused with purple, thickly coriaceous, rigid, concave, ovate, acute, basally sessile, deeply cordate and with overlapping lobes, leaf that blooms on a fascile of successive single [sometimes more] flowered infloresence arising through a spathe and has thin tubular floral bracts..
