Common Name or Meaning The Robust Pleurothallis [refers to the strong plant habit]

Found in Sucumbios province of Ecuador at elevations aroumd 2800 meters as a medium sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls with a close tubular sheath on the lower third and 2 more at the base carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, ovate, acute, sessile, deeply cordate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a short, fascile of peduncles hidden within the spathe .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long, successively single flowered inflorescence with a thin, tubular, haslf as long or less than the pedicel floral bract and carrying flowers with yellow with orange veined sepals, orange petals and a prone orange lip.

"This species in southernmost Ecuador is similar to P cedrinorum bit P robusta differs in the strong, robust habit, ans the broader 3veined petals. It is even more similar to the Central American P cardiochila with the same broad multiveined sepals and the oblong 3 veined petals." Luer 2005
