Found near Ocana Colombia at elevations of 200 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with compressed spindle-shaped pseudobulbs enveloped by a sheath and carrying 2, apical leaves and a many flowered inflorescence occuring in the spring
Dressler has suggested that this species may actually be a natural hybrid between A baculus and A chacoense.
