Common Name The Grown Upon Gomphichis

Found in Costa Rica, Darien province of Panama, Boyaca, Cundinamarca and Huila departments of Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests and on tepui summits at elevations around 1420 to 3400 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a rosette of ascending, narrowly elliptic, acute, becoming conduplicate below leaves that blooms in the summer through early winter on an erect, stout, pubescent, enveloped almost completely by imbricating, acuminate, triangular sheathing bracts, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate-ovate, acuminate, densely pubescent, longer than the ovary floral bracts.
Similar to G alba but G adnata is distinguished by the linear-lanceoalte to lanceolate, longer than the ovary floral bracts. G alba has ovate to elliptic-ovate, shorter than the ovary to almost as long as the ovary floral bracts.
