Common Name Dominici's Hapalorchis [Colombian Dominic Alexander Parra, the senior author's son current]

Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia in cloud forests in leaf litter at elevations around 2300 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with fasciculate, fleshy, thickened, densely pubescent roots giving rise to 6 to 8, gathered in a basal rosette, sagittate to ovate-lanceolate, thin, margin entire, delicate, 3 veined, acute, truncate below into the narrow, canaliculate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle 4.4 to 5.4" [11.5 to 13.5 cm] long, provided with thin, tubular, minutely pilose sheathing bracts, straight, thin, glabrous, rachis short, glabrous, laxly 2 flowered inflorescence with glabrous, elliptic-lanceolate, long-acuminate, , shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying simultaneously opening, white, non-resupinate flowers with minutely pilose basally sepals .
" Closest to Hapalorchis trilobata , Hapalorchis longirostris and H piesiki However, H dominici differs from them all in having the sepals fused in the lower third, creating a sort of tube; the lip hypochile is widest at the base, with auriculate lobes on the hypochile and ovate-sagittate leaves with a truncate base. H dominici, H piesiki and H longirostris all have non-resupinate flowers, H dominici has sepals with the lower parts pilose versus glabrous in H piesiki and glandular in H longirostris. H dominici and H piesiki have much shorter viscidium than the rostellum itself and is produced apically versus the rostellum is almost as long as the narrow viscidium." Kolan. & Szlach. 2013
