Common Name Aguinda's Microchilus

Flower Size .12" [3 mm]

Found in Sucumbios province of Ecuador on steep forested ridge slopes at elevations around 900 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with an erect, proliferating stem carrying several, broadly ovate, acuminate leaves that blooms in the later fall on an erect, terminal, 10.36" [25.9 cm] long, peduncle 7.08" [17.7 cm] long, provided with 6, lax sheathing bracts rachis 3.28" [8.2 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate-linear, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent, white, turning dark pink flowers.

Resembles M putoensis var brachyceras but its flowers have a narrower dorsal sepal .06" versus .08" [1.5 versus 2 mm] , a longer straight spur versus gently curved and a subpandurate lip hypochile, versus oblong-ellitpic. The typical M puyoensis differs from M aguindae in having a broader dorsal sepal, a longer gently curved spur and a cuneate-rectangular hypochile versus subpandurate." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2017
