Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia at elevations of 2600 to 2800 meters as small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 6 to 16, not present when blooming, in a basal rosette, ascending, elliptic-lanceolate, 5 to 6 parallel nerved, margin entire, apex acute, dark green adaxially, pale green abaxially, attenuate below into the sublinear, channeled, white adaxially, tawny abaxially, pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring and early summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle 4.8 to 8" " [12 to 20 cm] long, glabrous below the middle, becoming increasingly villose towards the apex, hairs multicellular and clavate, provided with 5 to 12, lanceoalte, chartaceous, yellowish green basally, green otherwise, glabrous, rachis 3.2" [8 cm] long, 12 to 18 flowered inflorescence with elliptic-lanceolate, concave, cuneate, 3–4 veined, olive green, tomentose with multicellular, clavate, caducous hairs, margins irregularly ciliate and becoming papillose near the apex as long as the flower floral bracts.
