Flower Size

Found in Imbabura province of Ecuador at elevations of 2500 to 3000 meters as a medium to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with 2, on the basal part of the stem, lanceolate, acute, narrowing below into the 3.2 to 3.6" [8 to 9 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, peduncle 12.8 to 22.4" [32 to 56 cm] long, provided with 5 to 7, acute, herbaceous, thin, glabrous, adnate to the stem, longer than the internodes to slightly shorter, sparsely glandular basally sheathing bracts, rachis 2.8 to 4.8" 7 to 12 cm] long, multilateral, laxly to densely 1 to 30 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, much longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying pedicellate, densely glanduar flowers.

"Similar to Pelexia tenuior but P triangularis has a small, almost orbicular spur adnate to the ovary and the triangular, basally narrow and gradually broadening towards the truncate apex, lip structure separate it. The type specimen has a small, elliptic, fleshy callus between the auricles. The epichile which is free of any calli, is oblong-elliptic, obtuse at the apex and is much narrower than the hypochile."
