Found in Risaralda department of Colombia at elevations around 2250 meters as a medium sized, cold growing, densely caespitose epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath in the middle third, and 2 below at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on 3 to 4, erect, distichous, peduncle to .4 to .8" [1 to 2 cm] long, 2.8 to 4" [7 to 10 cm] long overall, arising from a node below the apex of the ramicaul, subtended by a spathe, congested, subsecund, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with oblique, acute, as long as the ovary floral bracts.

"This medium sized species is characterized by a raceme of small, fleshy flowers, which is shorter than the leaf; thin, oblong and single-veined petals; and the ovoid lip. A pair of flat, rounded calli overlie the erect margins of the lip near the apex. It is apparently related to the much smaller and more widely distributed P pachypus Lehm. & Kraenzl. and also to the Bolivian Pleurothallis deuterovasquezii [Luer] in ed.. The former differs by the subquadrate lip with distinct callosities, and the latter by the three-lobed lip." Luer & Toscano 2018
