SUBGENUS Specklinia SECTION Effusae Lindl. 1842
Characterized by the ramicauls shorter or longer than the leaves with a tubular sheath near the middle and two to three more at the base that blooms on a simultaneously to successively, racemose inflorescence longer or shorter than the leaf, arising with a distinct to indistinct annulus which is sometimes obliterated by the abscission layer. One species P imraei, has no visible annulus or it is entirely absent. The sepals are glabrous externally but are often pubescent within. The lateral sepals are connate at least to the middle. The petals are more or less verrucose, callous or carinate externally on species with a short ramicaul, and often those with a long ramicaul do not have a callus. The column is elongate and amy or may not have teeth or wings and often but not always cover the anther. The anther and the stigma are always ventral.
