SUBGENUS Acianthera SECTION Sicariae SUBSECTION Sicariae Luer 1986

Characterized by the triquetrous ramicauls with well developed sharp wings and they are continuous with the margins of the blade of the leaf above. The subgenus Arthrosia has similar three-edged ramicauls but the articulated lip of this subsection immediately separate them.
